I am an educational researcher and academic specializing in educational assessment, educational measurement, and applied statistics. I currently serve as a Lecturer at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Sri Lanka, where I contribute to teaching, assessment development, and research that support national-level educational reforms. Prior to joining the NIE, I have worked at the National Education Commission (NEC), Sri Lanka gaining policy-level exposure to curriculum, assessment, and quality assurance processes within the Sri Lankan education system.
I am an academic with a background which combines strong quantitative expertise with deep pedagogical grounding. I hold a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Social Statistics from the University of Ruhuna, a Masters degree of Science in Business Statistics (MSc) from the University of Moratuwa, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Colombo, and a Masters degree of Education (MEd) from the University of Peradeniya. I am currently reading for the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Educational Assessment at the University of Colombo, focusing on contemporary issues in assessment design, reliability, and school-based evaluation practices.
My research interests revolve around assessment validity, SBA implementation, statistical approaches to educational measurement, classroom-based formative assessment, and the alignment between curriculum, instruction, evaluation, Teacher Education and Educational Technology. With a foundation in both statistics and education, I bring an interdisciplinary lens in analyzing assessment systems, identifying gaps, and proposing evidence-informed improvements for the Sri Lankan context.
I am contributed to policy discussions, institutional reviews, and assessment development initiatives, while also producing scholarly work that critically examines the effectiveness of SBA, assessment quality indicators, and teacher assessment literacy. My dual expertise in statistics and education positions me as a researcher , and meaningful assessment practices in Sri Lanka’s school system.
