Dr. Priyabrata Das is a renowned geoscientist and educator specializing in planetary sciences, serving as Director of the Indian Institute of Research and Earth Education Sciences (IIREES). His career bridges advanced research on Mars with impactful educational outreach for students worldwide.
Dr. Das earned his Ph.D. from Hiroshima University, followed by postdoctoral research at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), an ISRO unit in Ahmedabad. His research centers on Martian geomorphology, modern Martian climates, water-rock interactions, and ancient sedimentation systems, with active affiliation as a member of the Planetary Sciences Lab in the Geology Department at Louisiana State University (LSU), USA.
He founded IIREES to foster innovation in earth and planetary sciences education, while previously serving as faculty at Parul University in Gujarat and as a consulting geologist at Georocks Consulting in Kolkata, India.
