Professor Dr. Lawal Mohammad Anka is an internationally acclaimed agricultural economist, rural development scholar, and technocrat with over three decades of interdisciplinary experience. He holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Sindh Agricultural University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Marketing from Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany, an MBA from Preston University, and a Ph.D. in Rural Development Studies from the University of Sindh. His academic pedigree is further underscored by post-doctoral training at Boston University and executive certifications from Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Columbia, and Stanford. A highly ranked global scholar, Prof. Anka serves as a Visiting Professor at the Sindh Development Studies Centre, a Non-Resident Research Fellow at ABI North Carolina, and an Adjunct Research Professor at IBC Cambridge. His deep commitment to global development is reflected in his ranking among the elite authors worldwide by the Social Science Research Council (SSRC-SSRN) and his appointments as a STEM Ambassador to Nigeria and the UK and a Global Change Maker by the Haas Business School, UC Berkeley.
Paralleling his academic output, Prof. Anka has built a distinguished career in public service and state administration within Nigeria, currently serving as the Project Coordinator and Desk Officer for the Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria Project in Zamfara State. He has historically directed planning, monitoring, and evaluation for multiple IFAD-assisted and accelerated agricultural development programs, and has chaired 26 high-level statutory committees for the Zamfara State Government. On the international stage, he has served as the Deputy Director General of IBC Cambridge, Deputy Governor of Research for the American Biographical Institute, and was nominated as a High Commissioner for Refugees by the United Nations. A prolific author of 12 books and over 105 research papers, he maintains seats on the editorial and peer-review boards of 90 professional journals, having completed over 500 peer reviews. Conferred as an Ambassador of Peace in 2025 and recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Pro-Member for his contributions to global development, Prof. Anka is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and the Business Management Association of the United Kingdom.
