Dr. Sarath Perera is a highly accomplished educator and academic administrator currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Education and a Senior Lecturer (Grade 1) at Lyceum Campus in Sri Lanka. With over 25 years of distinguished experience in higher education, he has held prominent academic and leadership roles, including serving as a Senior Lecturer and Dean at the Siyane and Vavuniya National Colleges of Education, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya, and a Senior Consultant at the Open University of Sri Lanka. He holds a Doctor of Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Wollongong, Australia, alongside a Master of Education, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Colombo, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Peradeniya. Additionally, his expertise in national educational frameworks is highlighted by his past role as a National Consultant for Curriculum Development for the Sri Lankan Ministry of Education in partnership with the German Agency for Technical Cooperation.A leading expert in primary education, teacher competencies, and pedagogical design, Dr. Perera has played a pivotal role in shaping pre-service teacher education and curriculum development in Sri Lanka. He has successfully designed and implemented a wide array of diploma programs encompassing early childhood development, primary school teaching, STEM education, and English language teaching, as well as foundational psychology syllabi for Aquinas and KIU Universities. His academic research bridges the gap between teacher training and the global job market, exploring actionable competency models for primary educators. Beyond localized curriculum design and consultancy, Dr. Perera is an active contributor to the international academic community, frequently presenting his research at prominent conferences such as EDULEARN, ICERI, and the Asian Conference on Arts and Humanities, while also serving as an esteemed reviewer for various research symposia.
