Dr. Aliru Olajide Mustapha,is currently an Associate Professor in Environmental and Industrial Chemistry, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Kwara State University, Malete, Nigeria.
Dr. Mustapha began his academic career with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Ilorin in 1987. In the same University, under the supervision of Professor O, Olaofe he obtained his M.Sc. in 1993 worked on the Physicochemical Changes in Nigerian Chillies during Ripening. He returned to the UK in 2006 on a scholarship to the University of Nottingham to work on the synthesis of inhibition of the Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Cell Wall Biosynthesisunder the supervision of Professor Neil Thomas where he obtained Masters of Research (MRes) Chemistry in 2008. In 2009, he moved to the School of Chemistry at the Notingham Trent University in UK, as a Doctoral Research Fellow under the supervision Prof. Jason Birkett and Prof. Mike Coffey where he worked on the Fate and Behavior of Drugs in the Environment where he obtained his Ph.D, 2013.
He had worked for 25 years (1992 – 2017) at Federal Polytechnic Offa and rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Lecturer (2013 – 2017). He held many administrative positions such as Head of Department of Science Laboratory and Dean, Schoolof Applied Science & Technology, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Nigeria. He moved jobs to the Kwara State University, Malete in 2017 to present date.
He has published about 33 academic papers in learned local and international journals of high impact factor. He also attended many local and International Conferences where he delivered academic papers.
The major research interests involve the analyses, processing and development of phytochemicals and oleochemicals with innumerable industrial applications (such as, vegetable oils & fats, biodiesel, alkyd resin, adhesives, paints and coatings etc).
