Biography
Agbakosi Olufemi Iseoluwa is a passionate geoscientist, educator, and environmental advocate dedicated to advancing sustainable resource management and energy transition in West Africa. With a strong academic foundation in Geology from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, and an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to using geoscience as a tool for solving real-world environmental and energy challenges. Building on his academic and professional experiences, Olufemi is currently developing a PhD research project on Hydrogen Storage in Depleted Hydrocarbon Reservoirs—a study focused on evaluating the subsurface potential for hydrogen storage as part of the decarbonization and renewable energy transition agenda in hydrocarbon basins, with specific emphasis on the Niger Delta. His research integrates geological, geophysical, and environmental perspectives to advance clean energy solutions in Africa. He gained valuable technical experience during his internship with the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), where he worked on seismic interpretation, fault mapping, and reservoir characterization using advanced tools such as Petrel and Surfer. As an Earth Science teacher at Tabok College, Lagos, he has inspired the next generation of scientists through innovative, hands-on learning and earned the Most Dedicated Teacher Award in 2021. Olufemi’s passion for environmental stewardship extends beyond academia. Through his volunteer work with the Marine and Coastal Conservation Society of Nigeria and the Coastal Ocean Environment Summer School in West Africa, he actively promotes marine conservation, climate awareness, and sustainable water management. A published researcher and member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), Olufemi embodies a new generation of African scientists committed to driving the continent’s transition toward clean, sustainable, and resilient energy futures.
