Dr. Rafeek M. T. Yanni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Arab Open University – Egypt, where he has served since September 2024. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems (2023) from Mansoura University, specializing in Artificial Intelligence for Medical Image Processing, Surgical Visualization, and Training. His doctoral research focused on DICOM image processing and 3D simulation using mixed reality technologies.
He also holds an M.Sc. in Computer Information Systems (2012) from Sadat Academy, where he specialized in 3D Computer Graphics and Motion Capture. His research interests span 3D motion capture, simulation and visualization systems, virtual and mixed reality, IoT applications, and medical image processing.
With over 12 years of professional experience in 3D simulation, visualization, and human-computer interaction, Dr. Rafeek has worked in diverse roles including graphics designer, front-end developer, and 3D motion capture specialist. He also holds a professional certification in Autodesk Maya 3D.
Before joining AOU, Dr. Rafeek served as an Assistant Lecturer in the Computer Graphics Department at Badr University (2018–2024) and taught at several academic institutions between 2012 and 2018. He has acted as a reviewer for multiple scientific publications and contributed to numerous simulation and virtual reality projects.
In industry, he has collaborated with companies such as Brainwave and Bluebell in simulator development and 3D scene design, and worked as a 3D motion capture supervisor for film production studios including Arab Gulf and Newtech.
