Dr Adebayo Jonathan Adeyemo, born on 11 July 1979 in Aramoko Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, is a distinguished soil scientist and lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). He earned his Bachelor of Agricultural Technology in Crop, Soil, and Pest Management with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from FUTA on 6 December 2003. Following his undergraduate studies, he participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) between February 2004 and February 2005. He served as the Corps Liaison Officer in Okobo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. In 2006, Dr Adeyemo commenced his master’s programme in Soil Management at FUTA’s Department of Crop, Soil, and Pest Management, during which he was appointed as a Teaching Assistant. He obtained his Master of Agricultural Technology degree on 4 July 2008. Pursuing further academic excellence, he embarked on a Doctoral programme under the TWAS/CNPq fellowship at the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil, in March 2009, completing it in February 2013. He is undertaking his postdoctoral fellowship under the Nigeria Tertiary Education Trust Fund and The Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (TETFUND/FARA). Dr. Adeyemo has over 15 years of experience as a soil environmental analyst, educator, and researcher. He has collaborated with various national and international organisations on development projects, including the Soil Fertility Status and Environmental Impact Assessment of Proposed Bitumen Exploration in Ondo State, Nigeria, and the Soil Vegetation and Characterization Report of the Ikaram–Ibaram Millennium Development Area in Ondo State. His research interests encompass soil environmental chemistry and fertility, significantly contributing to advancements in sustainable soil management practices.
