Dr. Domeniter Naomi Kathula, PhD. ED, MED, BSc. AGED, AARUK, KUQAN, MKIM is a highly accomplished Research Consultant and International Editor & Peer Reviewer. She is currently a Senior Lecturer and Academic Leader in the School of Management and Leadership at the Management University of Africa (MUA), where she also leads the Competency-Based Education Team. Dr. Kathula holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and Extension from Egerton University. She is an active member of various professional organizations, including the Association of Academic Registrars of Universities in Kenya (AARUK), the Kenya Universities Quality Assurance Network (KUQAN), and the Kenya Institute of Management (MKIM).

Dr. Kathula’s impressive career spans various roles, from being the immediate former Ag. Registrar for Academics and Student Affairs at MUA to her ongoing leadership positions. She has also contributed as a Resource Consultant with the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) and a Peer Reviewer for Teacher Education Programmes with the Commission for University Education (CUE). Her leadership role in steering the establishment of MUA and the Kisaju Main Campus highlights her invaluable contribution to educational infrastructure development.

In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Kathula is an accomplished mentor and speaker. She has been involved with the Equity Bank Leadership Programme, Catholic Parish Schools, and various international conferences including the East African University Conference and conferences in India and Zambia. She is a trained examiner with the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) and was commended in the 2017 CUE Audit for her exemplary examination practices.

Dr. Kathula has a remarkable publication record, with over 48 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and a strong presence at international research conferences. She is currently an international reviewer and editor for various esteemed journals, including the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS) and the Asian Research Journal of Agriculture (ARJA). One of her research projects, “Kitchen Gardening for Women and Youth Empowerment,” received international recognition from SIDA/WIPO. Additionally, she has been invited to present research at various international conferences, including in Ghana and Zambia.

Her published works continue to make significant impact, with titles such as “Political Staff Promotion, Vice Chancellors’ Role, and Performance of Private Universities in Kenya” and “Innovative and Cost-Effective Water Harvesting and Value Addition in Agriculture for Sustainability” drawing substantial attention and readership. In 2023, she was awarded as the Best Faculty at MUA using the Balanced Scorecard approach.

Dr. Kathula’s vision is to continue making impactful contributions to higher education and governance, through research, mentoring, and community involvement. She is an active board member and chair of three secondary schools and is deeply committed to food sustainability, providing potable water to over 15 families for farming in her community in Kitui East, Mutito North sub-county.

In recognition of her extensive contributions, Dr. Kathula was nominated for the Kenya National Research Fund (KNRF) Festival Award 2024 under the category of Woman Researcher, a testament to her exceptional work in the field of education.
