He has taught in numerous institutions and is currently teaching at Alvan Ikoku Federal University, Owerri, Imo State Nigeria. He has lectured, taught intensive courses and participated in conferences and numerous articles in international publications on contemporary issues. Dr. Diala Edwin Lionel has 15 years of experience in the teaching of English Language, Literature and Research He is experienced in teaching at the school and college level. Dr. Diala’s specialisms include communication and media literacy, media discourse analysis and socio-pragmatics, teaching courses in academic English, and Literature in English, literary and social media, gender Issues, interdisciplinary studies, especially with language and society, digital humanities and Artificial Intelligence (AI). His research interests include pragmatic aspects of communication, humour-in-interaction, information structure of language, and the structure of written academic discourse. His current research projects deal with interpersonal interaction in English, and Literature, social media communication, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the pragmatics of humour. Dr. Diala Edwin Lionel’s books, articles and lectures have shaped the study of English language and literary culture with highly influential work on contemporary issues. He has analyzed the relationship of social media, communication and gender to literary form. He has co-coordinated a series of Symposia which focused on literature, literary theories and information and media literacy to reduce the gap in contemporary issues in Education. As a coordinator/resource person, he has conducted several training and extension workshops on various aspects of English language teaching, information and media literacy, literature and use of digital technology in English language learning for all stages of school education via face-to-face workshops and teleconferencing. Dr. Diala Edwin Lionel has won numerous awards, certificates and fellowships for teaching as well as research in national and international professional bodies. In 2023, he was made Fellow of Society for Research and Academic Excellence (FSR), UNN. February, 2023. He is the Fellow of Social Science Research Council (FSSRC) USA. Dr. Diala holds the chair in English Language and Literature at the Alvan Ikoku Federal University Of Education Owerri, Nigeria, founding and co-editorship of the Mbaise Declaration Newspaper, Guest Editor, The Catholic Guide Newspaper on English Language School Corner and Senior Research Fellowship in Society of Academic Excellence, University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is a co-author of Trends in Contemporary Language Education. He has 5 (five) unpublished prose works.
