Dr. Jayson N. Olayta is an accomplished agricultural scientist, academician, and licensed agriculturist with over a decade of dedicated service in higher education and rural development. He serves as an Assistant Professor at Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) – Siniloan Campus, building upon prior instructional foundations at Bicol University College of Agriculture and Forestry (BUCAF) and regulatory experience with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA). Prof. Olayta holds professional certifications in Horticulture (NC II and NC III) and Organic Agriculture (NC II). His research portfolio spans experimental biopesticidal development, supply chain analysis, and agricultural education frameworks. His forward-thinking work has been published extensively in international journals, investigating solutions such as the botanical extraction of Madre de Cacao and Makabuhay on specialty crops, climate-smart agriculture, and watershed resource conservation.
Beyond his scholarly pursuits, Prof. Olayta has demonstrated remarkable administrative and developmental leadership in the Philippine state university system. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS)—following a highly successful tenure as Director—and has held vital executive assignments including Assistant Dean of the LSPU College of Agriculture, Program Head for the Bachelor in Agricultural Technology, and Head of the Research Implementing Unit. An expert in field operations and community extension, he acts as the Project Leader for the DOST-DATBED Rice Seed Production Project and serves as a key co-project developer for agricultural extension initiatives like Project LOLITA (Organic Technology-Based Agriculture). His professional authority is globally recognized through lifetime and professional memberships in BioLeague, the Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA), and the Leadership in Education Academy and Development (LEAD), alongside honors such as the COVID-19 Pandemic Humanitarian Service Award.
