Jonathan Mrewa holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. He has vast experience in teaching, community research and development programs. Today, he works as a researcher under Tugwi Mukosi Multiple Disciplinary Research Institute under Midlands State University, with a focus on designing and lead socio-economic research, including both long-term and short -term projects, conduct multidisciplinary research on community development, child protection and gender. As a sociologist and demographer, Jonathan is interested in how social conditions and experiences shape group differences in life and well-being among children and adults. His research examines social disparities based on Poverty, gender inequalities and social stratification, and (and their intersections), and focuses on how fundamental social causes (e.g., socioeconomic status, social integration and support) underlie and shape group differences. He has built a substantial body of research, with peer-reviewed articles published with collaborators in a variety of journals.
