DR. KHAIRUL AZHAR BIN MEERANGANI is a Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Cawangan Melaka. He currently holds multiple roles, including Coordinator for the Centre of Postgraduate Studies and Chief of the Integrated Fiqh Research Centre at UiTM Cawangan Melaka. Dr. Khairul earned his Ph.D. in Shariah from the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, in 2016. His doctoral research focused on contemporary issues related to social relations between Muslims and non-Muslims in Malaysia from an Islamic legal perspective. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Shariah (Fiqh and Usul) from the same institution, completed in 2011. Dr. Khairul has extensive experience in academia and administration. Since 2020, he has served as a Senior Lecturer at UiTM Cawangan Melaka, where he not only teaches but also contributes to academic leadership through his roles as Coordinator and Chief of research initiatives. Prior to joining UiTM, he held the position of Dean at the Institute of Postgraduate Studies, Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka, from 2018 to 2020, overseeing postgraduate programs and ensuring academic excellence. Earlier in his career, from 2017 to 2018, he was a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Knowledge, Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka, where he actively contributed to teaching and research in Islamic studies.
Dr. Khairul is a prolific scholar whose research output reflects his dedication to advancing knowledge in Islamic studies. He has authored or contributed to 31 chapters in books and full books, along with 41 publications in indexed journals, including ERA, Scopus, and WoS platforms. Additionally, he has published 62 refereed journal articles and contributed to 62 conference proceedings and reports. His research endeavors have been supported by 20 grants, totaling RM 330,550. With an H-index of 9 and over 403 citations, his scholarly work is widely recognized and cited in academic circles. Dr. Khairul has been recognized for his innovation with two gold and two bronze awards. Additionally, he has received multiple accolades for his conference presentations, including four best paper awards and four best presenter awards. Dr. Khairul has supervised numerous postgraduate and undergraduate students, including 5 Ph.D. and 4 Master’s theses. His expertise spans Islamic jurisprudence, innovation in Islamic finance, and the integration of contemporary issues with Islamic principles, making him a valued consultant, speaker, and reviewer in these areas.
