Education

Dr. Kushal Singh holds a rich academic background in commerce, tourism, and cultural studies. He earned his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Tourism Management from Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV), India’s first rural university, in 2022 with a research focus on “Problem and Prospects of Rural Tourism in Kangra Valley (H.P.).” Prior to his doctoral studies, he completed his Master of Tourism Administration (M.T.A.) from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla in 2012, where his dissertation explored the impact of rural transport infrastructure on economic development in Rajasthan. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from the same university, earned in 2010 with a specialization in Indirect Tax. To deepen his understanding of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage, he pursued and completed a Master of Arts in Hindu Studies, further enriching his interdisciplinary approach to tourism, tradition, and socio-economic development.

Biography

Dr. Kushal Singh is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Aviation, Hospitality and Travel Management at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. He holds over 10 years of teaching and academic experience, with previous roles at CT University Ludhiana, Dev Samaj College for Women (Ferozepur), and Govt. Degree College Sujanpur Tira. He earned his Ph.D. in Tourism Management from MGCGV Chitrakoot, India’s first rural university, and has since guided six Ph.D. scholars, authored 9 books, published 27+ research papers, and holds 3 patents. His research interests revolve around rural tourism, medical tourism, and hospitality management. He is a prominent academic voice in tourism, known also for over 45+ newspaper articles on socio-political and cultural issues. Dr. Singh has been invited as a speaker and session chair in several national and international conferences and is actively involved in seminar organization, curriculum development, and academic leadership roles (e.g., HOD, NAAC coordinator, BOS member).
