Presently an academic at the University of Malaya, Dr. Mahanim’s research interests are in the area of project management, lean construction and production management. A graduate of the University of Salford, she obtained her PhD from University of Salford investigated the development of conceptual solutions for improving cost management in construction. She is also a graduate from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying.
Her corporate experience started in 1999 with Ibsul Holding Sdn Bhd as QS and was directly involved in several private and public projects including the Construction of Dewan Serbaguna Presint 9, Putrajaya. She later joined CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd in 2001 as a Contract Executive, responsible for the management of construction of Akademi Binaan Malaysia in Kedah, Sarawak and Johor. In 2003, she was appointed to the Faculty of Built Environment following a career that has progressed through positions as Tutor, lecturer and Senior Lecturer.
She teaches in several subjects in the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in the faculty and in other local universities in Malaysia. She has served as the Editorial Board in serveral journals such as International Journal of Property Sciences, Journal of Built Environment (Special Issue), as a Publication Sub-Committee, Quantity Surveying Division For Session 2020/2021 and as the Coordinator of Faculty of Built Environment Undergraduate Programme.
Dr. Mahanim has experiences in various corporate trainings and seminars organised by both Goverment bodies and private parties such as the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Contractors’ Service Center (PKK), Public Works Department (JKR) and many more. She also assists the Royal Institute of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) on the publication of SMM3.
