Associate Prof. Dr. Mahanim Binti Hanid is an academician and researcher in Quantity Surveying and the Built Environment. She currently serves as the Head of the Department of Quantity Surveying at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya, a position she has held since February 2023. Dr. Mahanim’s areas of expertise include project management, construction management, lean construction, building economics, sustainability, and knowledge management.
Dr. Mahanim holds a PhD in Built Environment from Salford University, UK (2014), an MSc in Building Technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia, and a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying from Universiti Malaya. She has been an influential member of various task forces and committees within the university, contributing to curriculum development, academic assessments, and strategic planning initiatives.
Her research contributions are extensive, with numerous publications in prestigious journals and conferences. Notably, her work on circular economy ecosystems, adaptive reuse of heritage buildings, and construction and demolition waste management reflect her commitment to sustainability in the built environment. Dr. Mahanim is also an active member of several professional bodies and has received multiple awards for her excellence in service and research, including the Gold Medal from the Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills in 2021.
