Dr. Ashenafi Edae is an experienced educator and researcher in Mechanical Automation and Manufacturing Education, with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE), China. With more than 14 years of professional experience in higher education, vocational training, and the textile and garment industry, he has cultivated strong expertise in computer-aided product data management (PDM), curriculum design, industrial collaboration, and academic leadership.
His research focuses on advancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) through the integration of digitalization, sustainability, and automation technologies. He is particularly interested in how lean manufacturing, global supply chains, and quality management systems can enhance workforce competence and support industrial transformation in developing economies.
Dr. Ashenafi has served as Lecturer, Head of the Garment Technology Department, and National ToT Expert. He has led curriculum reforms, laboratory establishments, and industry–education partnerships that promote technology transfer, capacity building, and quality assurance aligned with international standards.
Dr. Ashenafi holds a Master of Science in Garment Technology from the Ethiopian Textile and Fashion Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Education (Garment Technology) from Bahir Dar University. He has also participated in international professional training at Ningbo Polytechnic, China, and completed the GIZ/EU-funded Sustainable Education and Training Programme (STEP II & III) in Ethiopia.
