For more than a decade, Mhaka worked in the services marketing sector for leading stock -exchange-listed corporations including at Econet Wireless as Sales Supervisor; at Old Mutual Zimbabwe as Executive Financial Advisor (Marketing), and at Burgeon Consultancy as Chief Consultant (Enterprise Start-up Section). In addition, he has been in the academia for more than ten years, including being a teacher at high school level, a Marketing Lecturer at several Technical Colleges in Zimbabwe. From 2022 to date, he has been engaged as Adjunct-Lecturer at the Zimbabwe Open University, Great Zimbabwe University, and Gwanda State University, all in Zimbabwe. Currently, he is a Full-time Lecturer and researcher at Lupane State University, Zimbabwe. He is also a reviewer for the Fountain Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies.
