Biography
Omboto Peter Isaboke is a Kenyan economist and academic who serves as an Associate Professor of Environmental Economics in the Department of Economics, School of Business and Economics at Moi University, Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Nairobi, a Master’s degree in International Development from Cornell University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning, Management and Evaluation from the Pan African Institute for Development, and a PhD in Environmental Economics from Moi University. His academic and professional experience spans environmental economics, development economics, economic policy analysis, project planning and evaluation, environmental impact assessment, microeconomics and macroeconomics. He has held several academic and administrative leadership positions at Moi University, including Head of Department, postgraduate programme coordinator, school coordinator, and Chairman of the Departmental Postgraduate Committee. He is also a registered Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audit Lead Expert with NEMA, a consultant in project planning and management, and a member of professional and social science organizations.Professor Omboto’s research and scholarly contributions encompass Environmental Economics, Development Economics, Entrepreneurship, Small and Medium Enterprises, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Food Security, Agricultural Economics, Project Planning and Evaluation, and Sustainable Development. His extensive publications and supervised research have addressed forest-resource use, land-use management, water-resource projects, climate-change adaptation, rural enterprises, technology adoption, entrepreneurship, food security, poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability, county development, and socio-economic development. He has supervised numerous postgraduate students and has served as an editor, paper reviewer, external examiner, and thesis reviewer for universities and academic journals in Kenya and South Africa. His interdisciplinary research also connects economics with environmental studies, business, agriculture, public policy, entrepreneurship, and community development. Based on his extensive academic, research, supervisory, and professional experience, Professor Omboto is well suited for academic research and peer-review activities in Environmental Economics, Economics, Development Economics, Environmental Management, Agricultural Economics, Entrepreneurship, Business and Management, Natural Resource Management, Project Management, Public Policy, Sustainable Development, and Socio-Economic Development.
