Dr. Theodore Ikechukwu Mbata is a Chief Lecturer/Reader at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Nigeria. He has a Ph.D in Food and Industrial Microbiology from University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. He also has M.Phil(Master of Philosophy) in Food Microbiology, Master degrees in Health Planning and Management and Pharmaceutical Microbiology from University of Benin. He has Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Microbiology from University of Port Harcourt. He has undergone post graduate research trainings in Food Technology, Food safety in Times of Global Change at Hebrew University Jerusalem, Israel. In addition he has another postgraduate certificates in Vegetable Production in Protective Environment from Israel Agriculture Research Institute and Environment Management from Galilee International Management Institute(GIMI), Israel. His main area of research interest focuses on Public Health Nutrition, Postharvest Disease Control of fruit and Vegetables and Fermentation Technology. He is professional member of Royal Institute of Biology, (RSB), U.K, American Society for Microbiology, (ASM), International Research and Development Institute, Institute of Entrepreneur (IOE), Nigeria. He is also a member of editorial board of many journals in Africa and Asia. He has received so many awards and scholarships from Tetfund, Nigeria, Mashav, Israel, European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and Native American Nutrition. He has published, three textbooks, and has over sixty-six (66) research articles in journals, and over forty (40) conference proceedings. His H-index is 19 with over 1400 citations. He is married with three (3) children.
