Citation for Dr. Theresa Orieji Uchechukwu (FCSN, MPIN, MAPWEN) Born to Nigerian parents in the late 1960s, Dr Theresa Orieji Uchechukwu did her basic, high school and university education in different regions of her home country, sitting for the various qualifying examinations and emerging top of her class at all levels. She started her professional carrier as an intern at The West African Glass Industries Limited, Port Harcourt passing through The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maylux Industries Limited and The Aluminium Smelter Company (all in Nigeria) at different times and in various capacities before her elevation to the position of Head: Central Analytical Laboratory at the latest in 2011. A notable hands in production and process chemistry, Dr Uchechukwu has broad experience in industry laboratory operations and has worked with experts in different chemical industry laboratories from where she developed global best practices in chemical laboratory processes (including environmental health and pollution monitoring as well as wastes characterization and management), administration and research protocols. She currently teaches polymer chemistry at The Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, (AE-FUNAI), Nigeria, mentoring young chemistry students at all levels of tertiary education and conducting scientific researches in and outside AE-FUNAI.
