Azrul Shahimy bin Mohd Yusof is a dedicated academician with a strong background in linguistics and English language studies. He began his academic career in 2009 and currently serves as a lecturer at the Academy of Language Studies, UiTM Cawangan Kedah, Sungai Petani Campus. He holds a Master of Arts in Linguistics and English Language Studies from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Bachelor of Education (Hons.) in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from Universiti Teknologi MARA.
Specialising in sociolinguistics, his scholarly interests lie at the intersection of language, society, and education, particularly in the Malaysian context. His research contributions span themes such as Islamic philanthropic models, sustainability in private Islamic education (tahfiz schools), and water waqf initiatives.
He is actively involved in several research projects, including a Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) project on integrating waqf agriculture models with food security efforts and a MyRA-funded initiative focused on the development of water waqf systems in rural areas. His publication portfolio includes indexed journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, and technical reports.
With a Scopus h-index of 3 and a Google Scholar h-index of 5, he has contributed to the academic and practical discourse surrounding waqf-based educational and environmental sustainability models in Malaysia. He continues to engage in multidisciplinary research that blends humanities, linguistics, Islamic finance, and community development.
