D. Lokeshwaran, M.Sc. (Agri.), Ph.D. (Pursuing)
D. Lokeshwaran is a research-driven Ph.D. Scholar in Agricultural Extension at Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, specializing in tribal nutrition, health awareness, rural development, and digital innovation in agriculture. He is a recipient of the prestigious Tamil Nadu Fellowship for Tribal Research (2024–2025) awarded by the Government of Tamil Nadu for his doctoral research titled “An Explorative Study on Attitude, Awareness and Knowledge about Health & Nutrition among Tribal Women in Tamil Nadu.”
With a strong academic foundation, including 94% in M.Sc. (Agri.) Agricultural Extension and 83% in B.Sc. (Agri.), he has consistently demonstrated excellence in academics and research. His postgraduate study on the adoption and marketing behaviour of mango growers in Dharmapuri earned him notable recognition, including the Best PG Thesis Award (2024).
Lokeshwaran plays an active role in academic leadership as a Board Member in the Department of Agricultural Extension and serves on the editorial boards of Just Agriculture Magazine and Crossfield Perspectives. His research interests include ICT and AI in agriculture, nutrition-sensitive agriculture, climate-resilient farming, tribal welfare, digital extension services, and participatory rural development.
He has authored two books, contributed several book chapters, and published research articles in reputed national and international journals. His publications cover topics such as agricultural technologies, climate change adaptation, women empowerment, ICT and IOT applications, extension methodologies, and sustainable farming systems.
An active presenter, he has delivered research papers in more than forty national and international conferences. He has received several prestigious awards including the Prof. Anupam Varma Young Scientist Award (2025), Emerging Researcher Award (2025), Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Best Research Scholar Award (2025), and multiple Best Presentation Awards at national and international forums. His work emphasizes the integration of digital technologies, AI tools, mobile applications, and indigenous knowledge systems to strengthen agricultural and rural extension.
He has undergone extensive training programmes, workshops, FDPs and MOOCs through MANAGE, ICAR, TNSCST, VIT, and other academic institutions. His technical skills include SPSS, STATA, PRA tools, AI-based applications, and digital literacy tools.
Alongside academics, he has actively engaged in RAWE programmes, tribal community field studies, NSS activities, and digital literacy outreach among farmers. Known for his ethical work culture, effective communication, empathy, leadership qualities, and commitment to community welfare, he continues to contribute meaningfully to agricultural extension, rural development, and sustainable community advancement.
