D. Lokeshwaran is a dedicated Agricultural Extension professional and emerging researcher from Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, India. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension Education at Annamalai University, Chidambaram, with a research focus on health, nutrition, and wellbeing among tribal women. He is a recipient of the prestigious Tamil Nadu Fellowship for Tribal Research (2024–2025), awarded in recognition of his commitment to addressing tribal nutrition and welfare issues through evidence-based research.
He completed his M.Sc. (Agricultural Extension) with distinction (94%) and B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Annamalai University, demonstrating consistent academic excellence from school education onward. His postgraduate research on the adoption and marketing behaviour of mango growers in Dharmapuri district reflects his strong grounding in farmer-centric extension research, market analysis, and rural development.
Lokeshwaran has actively contributed to the academic community as a Board Member in the Department of Agricultural Extension, Annamalai University, and serves as a Reviewer and Editorial Board Member for several national and international peer-reviewed journals. His scholarly output includes authoring books, contributing numerous book chapters, publishing research articles in reputed journals, and writing popular extension-oriented articles. His research interests span agricultural extension and ICT, nutrition-sensitive agriculture, tribal welfare, AI in agriculture, climate-resilient farming practices, and digital empowerment.
An accomplished presenter, he has delivered papers at several national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops, addressing themes such as nutrition-smart agriculture, digital extension services, traditional ecological knowledge, and AI-driven agricultural transformation. His academic excellence and research contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Prof. Anupam Varma Young Scientist Award, Best PG Thesis Award, Emerging Researcher Award, and Best Oral and Presentation Awards at national and international forums.
Beyond academics, Lokeshwaran is deeply engaged in extension and social outreach activities. He has participated extensively in RAWE programmes, tribal field studies, NSS activities, and farmer awareness initiatives on digital literacy and AI tools in agriculture. Known for his ethical values, effective communication skills, and empathetic field approach, he strongly believes in community-led innovation and inclusive rural development.
