Oliver Musa Lavelah is an expert in both agronomy and community development. He has expertise in sustainable project management, value chain development, food security and livelihood improvement initiatives, institutional strengthening, and capacity building, strong result-based management skills, the ability to manage program budgets and human resources, and a track record of high-caliber, innovative project design, training, and sustainable implementations supporting smallholder agricultural productivity, market access, and information systems.

He has been successful in developing a strong professional network, responding to specific requests and needs from relevant government partners with technical assistance, including by supporting national strategic policy processes technically and leading training sessions.
Oliver has extensive training and experience working with civil society organizations, including women’s groups, farmer-based organizations (FBOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), and agriculture stakeholders, to ensure and provide technical support to value chain actors and coordinate the formulation, design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project with a focus on sustainable value addition, livelihoods, and economic support services activities to rural smallholder farmers,
Oliver is knowledgeable of Liberia’s institutional, policy, economic, and legal processes relating to agriculture development, value addition, post-harvest handlining, and management in particular; knowledge of and/or familiarity with Liberia’s economic and livelihood activities, notably social problems in rural communities that affect women and youths.
Oliver has managed teams on projects such as fostering stronger food and nutrition systems, reducing malnutrition among rural farming families, building resilience and engaging the next generation of food security community natural leaders, technical assistance in crop resource and livestock development and agriculture development, as well as value chain for venerable women and farmer’s organizations. Oliver is a quick learner who can handle pressure while optimizing program impacts.
