Sherif Alao is an emerging leader in higher education and a dedicated student affairs practitioner with a focus on cultivating an inclusive, justice-oriented campus climate. Originally from Nigeria, Sherif is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration at the University of Vermont. His global perspective, shaped by diverse cross-cultural experiences, fuels his passion for equity in education and community empowerment. With an academic background in history and international relations, Sherif possesses a profound understanding of systemic injustices and their effects on marginalized populations. This knowledge informs his work at the intersection of policy advocacy and educational leadership. Sherif’s commitment to social impact stems from his personal experiences. As an international student in the U.S., he has faced challenges including cultural displacement, institutional barriers, and marginalization. These experiences have inspired Sherif to advocate for underserved student communities, particularly students of color, first-generation students, and international students, by promoting transformative institutional practices and developing human-centered policies.
