Rathnapriya Samitha Pothupitiya is currently pursuing her PhD at the Faculty of Graduate Studies,
University of Colombo. She serves as a Lecturer in English in the Department of Languages at the
University of Moratuwa. Additionally, she is a certified government teacher and had served more than
ten years as a member of the academic staff at Royal College, Colombo. In 2023, she worked as a
marking examiner for the MA in English and Education program at the Faculty of Graduate Studies,
University of Sabaragamuwa. From 2023 to 2024, she worked as a research assistant in the project
“The Current State of Sinhala-Tamil Bilingualism in Sri Lanka” (Grant Number:
ASP/01/RE/HSS/2022/10) in the Department of English and Linguistics, University of Sri
Jayawardenepura.
She also served as a Lecturer at the Department of English Language Teaching (DELT), University of
Kelaniya from 2018 to 2021, where she coordinated the English for Humanities and English for
Social Sciences courses as well as BA (Honors) in Teaching English as a Second Language Courses
in 2020. During the same year, she extended her service as a visiting lecturer at the Department of
International Studies, University of Kelaniya.With over 25 years of experience in English language
teaching and English literature education, she began her career as an English teacher and has since
made significant contributions to the field.
