My name is Gunasekara Mihiri Indunil, and I am a citizen of Sri Lanka. I am currently employed
at Queensland University of Technology as a PhD student. My long-term goals are to become a
professor, contribute to society, and save the environment. At the University of Kelaniya in Sri
Lanka, I earned a BSc. (Honors) in Environmental Conservation and Management. I received a
First Class grade for it (GPA: 3.78). Assessment of Physical, Chemical, and Optical Parameters
of Virgin Papers to Evaluate the Potential of Recycling Waste Papers as a Financially Feasible
Option is the title of my undergraduate research project. Based on my undergraduate thesis, I
have four abstracts in national and international symposia as well as a full-length publication in
Heliyon Journal. In addition to this, I had assisted a Ph.D. student and an undergraduate student.
Because I adore nature, my research interests are in the fields of water management [Microplastics], Sustainability and environmental management. I grew up in a village with plenty of trees, clean air, a
moving stream, and a wide variety of birds and other animals. I cherished engaging with and
spending time in nature. But as I grew older, I was able to comprehend all the effects on the
environment, and I saw how the natural resources were being depleted and polluted. I believe
that I should preserve nature with the knowledge I have.
