Mr. Lubem Aondoakaa is a distinguished child protection specialist, human rights practitioner, and executive leader with over a decade of experience designing and executing trauma-informed, survivor-centered responses to gender-based violence (GBV) and child sexual abuse (CSA) across West Africa. As the Founder and Executive Director of the Initiative for Health and Equality, he has spearheaded community safeguarding systems and integrated referral pathways that have provided essential psychosocial, medical, and legal support to over 5,000 vulnerable individuals across six Nigerian states. Mr. Aondoakaa’s professional portfolio spans strategic program implementation, community-led monitoring for Global Fund projects, and expert grantmaking support, where he applies a rigorous harm-reduction lens to proposal reviews, safeguarding risk assessments, and intervention feasibility in high-stigma, resource-constrained environments.
Paralleling his grassroots human rights advocacy, Mr. Aondoakaa maintains an active profile in scientific research and evidence generation. He holds a B.Sc. in Pure and Applied Chemistry from Benue State University, an M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Calabar, and is currently completing his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at the University of Calabar. His unique interdisciplinary approach allows him to combine data-driven analytics with mixed-methods qualitative research, resulting in numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations at prestigious global platforms, including the International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026), ICASA, and the Pan-African ILGA Regional Conference. His scholarly work extensively documents structural barriers to justice, community resilience, and healthcare equity for marginalized rural populations.
