Dr. Esther Machana Magembe is a Kenyan agricultural economist, academic, and researcher specializing in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Resource Management, and Rural Development. She has been serving as a Lecturer in the School of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences at Kibabii University, Kenya, since 2016, following previous teaching appointments at the University of Kabianga, Embu University College, Meru University of Science and Technology, and Kisii University College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Business Management from Egerton University and a Collaborative Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Egerton University. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management at Moi University. Her academic and professional interests include agricultural production systems, pastoral and agro-pastoral livelihoods, agricultural resource management, rural household economics, sustainable agriculture, and environmental resource valuation. She has also participated in professional workshops and conferences focusing on sustainable agriculture, animal agriculture, horticultural production, research methodology, and agricultural economics.Her research and publications address agricultural economics, farming systems, pastoral and agro-pastoral production, rural livelihoods, socio-economic analysis, agricultural enterprise diversification, environmental economics, and natural resource valuation. Her published studies have examined the economic benefits of pastoral and agro-pastoral systems, factors influencing transitions between farming systems, livestock and crop enterprise diversification, and the valuation of riparian habitat protection in Kenya, including the effects of elicitation formats and payment vehicles on non-market valuation estimates. She has experience with quantitative research and statistical analysis using STATA, SPSS, and NLOGIT and has contributed to curriculum development in Agribusiness Management.
