Dr N.V.G.A. Hemantha Kumara is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology. He studied at Saint Aloysius College, Galle and graduated from the University of Ruhuna in 1993. Dr Hemantha Kumara was the Head of the Department of Sociology for three years (2017- 2020). He also worked as the Chairperson of the 5th Ruhuna University International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences.
