Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jessica Ong Hai Liaw obtained her Ph.D. in (Malay Language) in Language Psychology (Psycholinguistics), Communication and Linguistics at the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2010. She was awarded as the best student in Master Malay Language in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) year 2007 and Bachelor of Arts (History, Anthropology, and Sociology) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2001. She received a Certificate in Teaching English Studies in the year 1999 and a Certificate in Executive Logistics and Supply Chain in the year 2020. Jessica is currently attached to the Faculty of Defence Studies and Management, National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM). In 2020, Jessica was awarded the title of Ts (Technologist) in the field of Art Design and Creative Multimedia (AM). In 2018, Jessica was also awarded the Special Award on Media and Public Relations by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport while in 2017, Jessica received the Special Award on Leadership in Marketing Communication by the Malaysian Global Business Forum, Terra Value, and the National Council of Professors. In 2021, Jessica was appointed a Women and Society Cluster Fellow by the National Council of Professors. She was also appointed to the Media committee in the COVID-19 Communication Task Force by the International Academy of Medicine Malaysia. In the year 2022, Jessica was appointed ad Head of Cluster in Media and Communication of Centre of Women Advancement and Leadership (CWAL) Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNiKL). Jessica has appeared on television as a news presenter for the Berita Dunia slot from August 2004 to June 2020 and has hosted the Bicarawara Global@1 program on RTM, the 1Malaysia Breakfast, and Selamat Pagi Malaysia program. Now, still active as a trainer, host, and emcee for events. Jessica is active in charitable work in Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) until she was appointed Ambassador of the USM Kelantan Child Welfare Association (PEKA), Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Population Development Organization (PPPM). Jessica is a Chartered Member at The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia (CILTM), Council Member, Chairperson for Corporate Communication, and Vice-Chairperson of Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) Malaysia. Jessica is the Director of E-Newsletter for CILTM, editor, reviewer, and author of the column “Lekat di Hati” in Utusan Malaysia newspaper starting in 2012. Jessica continues to contribute ideas in writing in magazines such as Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and newspapers to this day.
