Dr. Senarath Dissanayakage Yeshanthika Jayarathne is a distinguished researcher and academic with an extensive background in Anthropology and Archaeology. Born on September 22, 1993, in Kuliyapitiya, Sri Lanka, Dr. Jayarathne has established himself as an expert in the fields of biological and cultural anthropology, forensic anthropology, and primatology, with over 10 years of research expertise.
He completed his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Anthropology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2018. Following this, he pursued further studies, earning a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Archaeology from the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology in 2020. His commitment to academic excellence continued with an MSc in Archaeology at the same institution from 2021 to 2023. In parallel, he pursued his Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura from 2020 to 2023, where his research contributed to advancing knowledge in his field.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jayarathne has held several significant academic and research roles. He currently serves as a Temporary Research Assistant at the Department of Anthropology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a position he has held since April 2021 and will continue until April 2024. Prior to this, he was a Temporary Assistant Lecturer in the same department, teaching undergraduate students from June 2019 to June 2020.
Beyond academia, Dr. Jayarathne has contributed to the corporate world, serving as the Coordinator of Human Resources & Management Information System at Omega Line Limited from June 2018 to May 2019, and previously as an Intern in Human Resources at JND Enterprises and Constructions in 2017.
His expertise extends to research management, with over five years of experience in international research collaborations, particularly with institutions in Japan and Canada. Dr. Jayarathne has also demonstrated strong leadership in project management, including conference organization, where he has managed numerous research and academic projects over the past six years.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Jayarathne is dedicated to making a global impact through his knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international collaborations. He is a committed volunteer expert for non-profit organizations, contributing his skills to advance various initiatives.
Dr. Jayarathne is fluent in both Sinhalese and English and possesses strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Web Development. He is also known for his exceptional soft skills, including adaptability, effective communication, teamwork, and strong work ethics.
