Dr. Sandeep Singh Kalra is an accomplished microbiologist, researcher, and academic professional with over 17 years of experience bridging clinical diagnostics, public health surveillance, and molecular microbiology. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, a Master’s degree in Clinical Microbiology from Punjab Technical University, and recently earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from RIMT University. Dr. Kalra has built a robust career in laboratory medicine, having served for eight years as a Microbiologist at Meditech Lab, Ludhiana, where he directed routine diagnostic workflows and spearheaded the implementation of strict NABL quality standards and biosafety compliances. His core research interests lie at the forefront of the “One Health” framework, focusing on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, molecular diagnostics, zoonotic diseases, and microbial risk assessment in public spaces.
An active contributor to public health epidemiology, Dr. Kalra’s research portfolio features significant international collaboration, notably serving as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) at GADVASU University on a prestigious UK-funded international research project centered on zoonotic disease surveillance and molecular characterization. A prolific writer and presenter, he has authored several peer-reviewed papers in international journals detailing cross-infection risks among occupational workers and microbial risks in commercial products, alongside multiple co-authored book chapters with Springer Nature and other publishers on fungal biodiversity and environmental conservation. His contributions to the field have been recognized with the RULA Life Science Award for excellence in research. Beyond his investigative work, Dr. Kalra is deeply committed to academic service, acting as a scholarly reviewer for life science journals, managing community health projects, and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in advanced culture techniques, internal quality control, and molecular epidemiology.
