Biography
Mr. Zunoomy Muhammadu Sainulabdeen is an accomplished Sri Lankan linguist, translator, and academic who serves as a Temporary Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Arabic Language within the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL). He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) Degree in Linguistics and Translation with First Class honors from SEUSL and a Master of Arts from the University of Peradeniya, and is currently advancing his linguistic scholarship as a postgraduate research student at the University of Kelaniya (KLN). His primary research specializations lie at the intersection of contrastive linguistics, semantics, phonetics, and trilingual translation methodologies involving Arabic, Tamil, and English. A dedicated researcher with globally indexed profiles across Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, his empirical work focuses extensively on syntactic structures, language acquisition patterns, and sentence processing frameworks. Paralleling his classroom instruction across subjects like translation studies, functional grammar, and research methodology, Mr. Zunoomy maintains a highly active portfolio in peer-reviewed publishing and academic governance. He has authored and co-authored numerous research papers in international indexed journals—such as Ijaz Arabi, Al-Lisan, and the Sri Lankan Journal of Arabic and Islamic Studies—investigating translation error metrics and morphological assimilation processes. Professionally credentialed by the Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) in Translation and Interpretation, his background includes exhaustive practical training with the Department of Official Languages under the Ministry of National Coexistence. Furthermore, Mr. Zunoomy is an active member of the International Union of Language Teachers (IULT) and has repeatedly driven university infrastructure development, serving as an editor, panel coordinator, and layout specialist for multiple international symposia and undergraduate research colloquiums at SEUSL.
