Mr. Odhiambo Alphonce Kasera is an accomplished scholar, researcher, and academic consultant with a multidisciplinary background in Political Science, Public Policy, and International Relations. Currently pursuing a PhD in Political Science at the School of Development and Strategic Studies (SDSS), Maseno University, he brings a dynamic blend of academic excellence, teaching experience, research competence, and policy engagement to both classroom and field settings.
Mr. Kasera holds two master’s degrees—a Master of Arts in International Relations (2019–2023) and a Master of Research and Public Policy (2022–2025)—both completed with distinction at Maseno University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy with IT from the same institution in 2018, graduating with First Class Honors. His ongoing doctoral research builds on this robust academic foundation, exploring governance and policy issues within and beyond the Kenyan context.
He has taught widely across Kenyan universities. Since 2019, he has served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Maseno University, instructing diploma and undergraduate students in Community Development, Political Science, and International Relations. In 2024, he joined Rongo University, where he teaches in the fields of Political Science, International Relations, and Public Administration. In 2025, he expanded his teaching portfolio to include University of Kabianga, offering courses in Public Administration and Human Rights. His teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking, grounded analysis, and real-world application.
Mr. Kasera has secured and successfully implemented competitive research grants, including funding from the National Research Fund (2021–to date) for a multidisciplinary study on Synthetic Biology. His component of the project focused on the legal and policy dimensions of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Kenya, forming the basis of his MA thesis in International Relations. He is also a two-time grantee under the Swedish Research Council-funded project on “Shifting Grounds – The Politics of Sand Mining in East Africa” (2022–2025), which has yielded three forthcoming peer-reviewed papers.
His scholarly output includes 11 peer-reviewed journal articles, two book chapters, and over five academic conference papers. He is presently working on two book manuscripts and six draft journal articles, signaling a steady and growing contribution to African political scholarship and policy discourse.
Beyond academia, Mr. Kasera is a seasoned research consultant. Since 2017, he has served as the Founder and Lead Researcher at Vision Africa Associates, a firm specializing in development and policy research across the continent. Between 2021 and 2023, he was the Head of the Research and Policy Unit at Champions of Peace, where he led studies on peace, security, and stability. From 2018 to 2023, he also worked as an Associate Consultant at Inter-Act Associates, where he engaged in concept development, field research management, bid writing, and research translation.
