Biography of Salah Hafsat Olaide
Hafsat Olaide Salah is a distinguished librarian, researcher, and academic with extensive experience in library and information science. Born on April 18, 1978, in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, she has dedicated her career to advancing library services, digital resource management, and academic research.
Hafsat obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Library and Information Science from Bayero University, Kano, where she developed a strong foundation in information management and library automation. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Library and Information Science at the same institution, further solidifying her expertise in the field. Her professional career spans several reputable institutions, including Kwara State University, Federal University Wukari, and currently, the University of Abuja, where she serves as Librarian I. Throughout her career, she has held key roles in cataloging, classification, metadata, e-library supervision, and information literacy instruction. She is a reviewer of an local and international journals. She has also been actively involved in research and has published extensively in reputable journals on topics related to libraries, digital libraries, information literacy, database, and knowledge management.
Hafsat is a Chartered Librarian and an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Library Association, the Nigerian Women Library Association, and the Library Management Committee. She has also participated in numerous conferences, workshops, and training programs to enhance her knowledge in library technology and digital information systems. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Hafsat is passionate about mentoring young librarians, promoting information accessibility, and integrating technology into library services.
