T.W.N.K. Perera is a Lecturer in Microbiology at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. She holds an M.Phil. in Microbiology, specializing in the biodeterioration of low-density polyethylene by endolichenic fungi, with a focus on developing innovative applications for biodegradation. Nipuni graduated with a First Class Honours B.Sc. (Special) Degree in Microbiology, where she received numerous accolades, including two gold medals for academic excellence.
Her research interests encompass environmental biotechnology, microbial applications in polymer degradation, insecticide biodegradation, and the use of microorganisms in food preservation. She has published refereed articles and presented her work at international forums. Nipuni actively engages in peer review for reputable journals and serves on editorial boards.
