Biography
Dr. Uchechukwu Harrison Orji is an accomplished pharmacist, clinical pharmacologist, and academic educator currently serving as a Lecturer I in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Nigeria. His structured scholastic journey began at Niger Delta University, where he earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree. He subsequently obtained a Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Ethnopharmacology from UNIZIK, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Pharmacology from the same institution. Dr. Orji has been an active faculty member since his initial appointment in 2019, consistently balancing advanced instruction with operational administrative responsibilities. He has actively guided departmental development and student workflows through key internal appointments, including serving as the Undergraduate Departmental ICT Officer and the Substantive Examination Officer for his department.A dedicated researcher, Dr. Orji focuses his scientific inquiries on Clinical Pharmacology and Ethnopharmacology, with a specialized focus on evaluating the therapeutic impacts of natural plant fractions on health conditions like retinoic acid-induced osteoporosis, diabetes, and systemic inflammation. He has built a prolific research portfolio, co-authoring nearly twenty peer-reviewed articles in reputable national and international medical and pharmaceutical journals. He is a full registered member of elite professional networks, including the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and the National Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA). Beyond his scholarly commitments, Dr. Orji maintains a distinguished record of humanitarian and community service. He has held high-level regional roles within the Eastern Nigerian Union Mission and Enugu Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church—serving as both First Elder and Health Director—alongside his civic mandate as the President General of the Ubakala Clan Improvement Union Federated (Enugu Chapter).
