Dr. Uchechukwu Harrison Orji is a registered pharmacist, academic researcher, and Lecturer I in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology within the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Nigeria. Since joining the university’s faculty in 2019, Dr. Orji has dedicated himself to advancing pharmaceutical education and departmental administration, serving key roles including Departmental Examination Officer and Undergraduate ICT Officer, alongside acting as an internal examiner for advanced postgraduate research defense programs. His robust academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from Niger Delta University, followed by a Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Ethnopharmacology and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Pharmacology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University. He is actively involved in driving national professional standards as a full member of both the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and the National Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA).Dr. Orji’s extensive research portfolio sits at the intersection of clinical pharmacology, ethnopharmacology, and metabolic health. His experimental work focuses heavily on evaluating the therapeutic potentials of plant-derived bioactive fractions—specifically investigating the osteoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidative mechanisms of local flora like Ochna schweinfurthiana and Diaphananthe bidens in treating conditions such as retinoic acid-induced osteoporosis, type-2 diabetes, and systemic oxidative stress. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers in respected international scientific journals and regularly presents his findings at major national NAPA scientific conferences. Beyond his academic endeavors, Dr. Orji is a deeply committed community and healthcare advocate, lending his leadership expertise as the Associate Health Director for the Eastern Nigerian Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and serving as the President General of the Ubakala Clan Improvement Union Federated (Enugu Chapter).
