Patience Nalavwe is a Zambian Library and Information Science and Development Studies professional with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zambia. She has extensive experience in Health Information Management, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Data Management, Medical Records, and Information Systems, particularly within Zambia’s public health sector. Since September 2022, she has served as a Medical Records Clerk (M&E) with the Ministry of Health, where her responsibilities include maintaining patient records in SmartCare Plus, supporting DHIS2 data management, preparing health information reports, conducting data quality monitoring, and providing technical support to health facilities. She has also undertaken M&E and data-quality assignments supporting HIV/TB, HPV, malaria, COVID-19, and RMNCAH programmes in collaboration with organizations including UNICEF, WHO, CDC, USAID, Global Health Corps, CIDRZ, and CHAZ. Her professional experience also includes election training and administration with the Electoral Commission of Zambia, statistical data collection with the Zambia Statistical Office, library services, customer relations, telecommunications, and field-based data collection using digital platforms such as KoboCollect and SurveySolutions.Her academic and professional interests are supported by practical experience in health information systems, public health data, monitoring and evaluation, data quality assurance, information management, library and information science, and development studies. She has undertaken university research on library usage, information-seeking behaviour among women with no formal education, and gender-related expenditure patterns among university students, demonstrating experience with both quantitative and qualitative research approaches. Her technical competencies include Microsoft Office, MySQL, KoboCollect, SurveySolutions, Koha, OpenBiblio, Joomla, Linux and data backup and management systems.
