Dr. Ifeoma Vivian Anyiam is a Reader in Medical Microbiology at the Department of Microbiology, Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. She holds a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and has built a strong academic and research career in bacteriology, microbial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, hospital-acquired infections, public health, and medical mycology.
Her current research focuses on the epidemiology and molecular characterization of multidrug-resistant Candida species involved in invasive fungal infections. She is particularly interested in plasmid-mediated resistance mechanisms and the clinical implications of emerging bacterial and fungal pathogens.
She has published extensively in both local and international reputable peer-reviewed journals and has received several academic awards. As an educator and mentor, Dr. Anyiam is deeply committed to capacity building in clinical microbiology research, interdisciplinary learning, fostering innovation in microbiology and allied sciences, and improving infectious disease outcomes in Nigeria and beyond. Her work contributes significantly to addressing critical challenges in healthcare. She also serves as a peer reviewer for several scientific journals and is committed to advancing the field of clinical microbiology through research, teaching, and mentorship.
