Dr. Shuranjan Sarkar earned his B.Sc. in 1993 and M.Sc. in Chemistry in 1994 from Rajshahi University, Bangladesh. He served as a lecturer at Durgapur Women College in Rajshahi from 1998 to 2004. In 2008, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry at Kyungpook National University (KNU) in Daegu, South Korea. Following this, he was a BK21 Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Chemistry and the Green-Nano Research Center at KNU from 2008 to 2015. Currently, he is employed at the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute, focusing on Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry. Dr. Sarkar has published numerous articles in various esteemed international and local journals and has presented his work at international scientific conferences. He received the Junior High School Governmental Scholarship in 1986 and the Korean KRF scholarship from 2004 to 2008. His expertise lies in developing models and tools related to organic, inorganic, materials, and biological inorganic chemistry. He specializes in catalytic processes involving catalase, peroxidase, catechol oxidation, and epoxidation, as well as synthetic organic and inorganic materials. His current research involves jute, specifically in creating jute composites, jute pulp, cellulose derivatives, and activated charcoal.
