Prof. Vijayalakshmi Vanapally is an accomplished educationist, historian, academic administrator, and Principal with 27 years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education. She currently serves as Principal of Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet, Telangana, and has previously served as Principal at Kakatiya Government Degree College, Hanamkonda; Government Degree College, Parkal; Government City College, Nayapul; and Government Degree College, Mahabubabad. She holds an M.A. in History from the University of Hyderabad, M.Phil. from the University of Hyderabad, and Ph.D. from Osmania University, and has qualified the UGC-JRF/NET in History. Her academic interests include History, Higher Education, Education Policy, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Tourism, Cultural Heritage, and emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence in education and research. She has served as a Board of Studies member at Kakatiya University and Osmania University and has undertaken several district-level academic and administrative responsibilities.Prof. Vanapally has made significant contributions to teaching, research, institutional development, and community engagement. She has presented and published numerous papers at national and international seminars and conferences, with research covering Hyderabad and Telangana history, education, gender issues, tourism, social transformation, traditional knowledge, NEP 2020, AI in social sciences, and sustainable development. She has also served as a resource person, seminar chairperson, panelist, academic advisor, and trainer in numerous academic programmes, workshops, FDPs, and webinars. Her notable recognitions include the State Best Teacher Award (2016), the Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme Award for Best Unit, Bharatha Mahila Siromani Award, Green Champion Award, and multiple Principal of the Year/Institutional Excellence awards, including recognitions received in 2025 and 2026. Her leadership has contributed to skill-development programmes, job melas, student projects, digital education, NAAC initiatives, community outreach, environmental programmes, and institutional quality enhancement, establishing her as a distinguished academic leader and administrator.
